Pakistan Test Fires New Ballistic Missile

News agencies report that Pakistan successfully test fired a new long range ballistic missile Friday.

The surface-to-surface Hatf VI (Shaheen II) has a range of 2,000 km (1,250 miles).

The two-stage missile can reportedly deliver both nuclear and conventional warheads.

Pakistan is said to be working on an advanced version with a potential range of 2,500 km (1,560 miles).

Chairman of Pakistan’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Ehsanul Haq has witnessed the test. He congratulated the engineers and staff involved in the making of missile, according to the report.
