News Brief – September 11, 2011
The accompanying photos came from Britain’s Daily Mirror, which on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 claims “Leaders in tears as they salute Flight 93 heroes”.
It is difficult to determine which is the more cynical: the unquestioning nature of the article itself that tells how former “Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton paid tribute to the heroes of Flight 93”.
Or the calculated displays of grief displayed by the assembled U.S. politicians themselves.
Either way it’s a measure of how low Western culture has now sunk that the media reports the commemoration of the tenth anniversary of 9/11 without questioning what really happened.
While politicians milk commemorative events for all they are worth with mock displays of grief.
Bill Clinton is well known for his displays of fake grief, as can be seen in this video of him at Commerce Secretary Ron Brown’s funeral, one minute joking and laughing the next, after he sees he’s being filmed, wiping away tears from his eyes.
So it’s safe to assume that the other displays of grief from U.S. politicians and their attendants at yesterday’s commemorative service were equally as sincere.
It speaks volumes about the sincerity of U.S. politicians and their attendants that they can engage in such behaviour. It is also a measure of the contempt they have for the U.S. public that they expect them to believe this.
Either way it means that they simply cannot be trusted.
