I wish you had been on Capitol Hill with me last week. It was incredible: Congressional supporters of the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) justified the group’s use of terror, praised them for being “willing to fight,” and dismissed Iran’s nonviolent Green movement as “pacifists.”
They even accused an Iranian American who served in the Obama Administration of aiding Iran’s government because he spoke openly in his testimony about the Mujahedin’s history of terrorism and lack of support among Iranians.
The most shocking part was before the hearing, when senior leaders of the terror group were caught coaching witnesses outside the hearing room. It is illegal to coordinate with a foreign terrorist organization, yet enforcement has been so lax that Mujahedin leaders were coaching the witnesses right in the open.
The Mujahedin are trying to force the State Department to remove the group’s terrorist designation, and they may succeed if we don’t act before a final decision is made in August. We know this would threaten to silence our community, do untold damage to the peaceful Iranian pro-democracy movement, and unleash a powerful force for war with Iran. This shocking video reveals just how effective the Mujahedin have been at convincing top officials that the U.S. should swap Iran’s current undemocratic government with a new undemocratic government ruled by the Mujahedin!
