Sam LaGrone – USNI News July 18, 2019
Amphibious warship USS Boxer (LHD-4) took down an Iranian drone that U.S. officials say threatened the ship as it entered the Persian Gulf on Thursday.
At about 10 a.m. local time, Boxer was transiting Strait of Hormuz when an Iranian fixed-wing drone approached the ship, a defense official told USNI News.
The crew of the ship took “defensive action against the unmanned aerial system to ensure the safety of the ship and the crew,” the official said.
The official would not detail the method in which Boxer downed the drone. The ship is armed with RIM-7 Sea Sparrow short-range anti-ship missiles, and the RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) and Phalanx CIWS point defense weapons systems. Additionally, the Navy and the Marine Corps have begun to field a wide variety of non-kinetic systems capable of downing a drone by other means. News of the intercept first came from a press event at the White House in which President Donald Trump told reporters of the downing of the Iranian drone.
“This is the latest of many provocative and hostile actions against vessels operating in international waters,” Trump told reporters in the White House on Thursday afternoon.
The downing of the Iranian drone comes as the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy announced they had seized a UAE-owned, Panamanian-flagged tanker and follows reports of Iranian harassment of a British owned tanker last week.
Boxer has been operating in U.S. Central Command since mid-June with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and two other amphibious warships.
The ARG includes Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD-4), San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS John P. Murtha (LPD-26) and Harpers Ferry-class dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD-49).
The ARG left San Diego, Calif., on May 1 on a scheduled deployment. In addition to Boxer, the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group has been patrolling in the Gulf of Oman and the North Arabian Sea since mid-May.
The presence of large fixed-wing Iranian drones near the Persian Gulf is not new, with carriers and other U.S. warships rotating through the region having interactions with them in recent years. However, the drones typically keep their distance, making sure the U.S. ships see them but not coming close enough to where ships have had to shoot them down.

“This is the latest of many provocative and hostile actions against vessels operating in international waters,” Trump told reporters in the White House on Thursday afternoon.
Trump gives a good example of the ‘Opposites Principle” (the ‘OP’ is where you find them using the exact opposite of the truth) – ie that statement actually applies to the US’s actions in shooting down, in international waters, an innocent surveillance drone.
ps the Opposites Principle is ‘real’ in that it is quite accurately predictive of their behavior and statements. I should write a book about it.
Like I keep saying, the war on Iran is still red hot. They are going to keep kicking the hornet’s nest until they get some kind of reaction that they can use to launch and all out attack.
US and the west cannot engange Iran on equal standing, without major losses, major public upset at home, riots, coupe attempts from within the military who are fed up of fighting proxy Zion wars etc.
The only real prospect they have is to launch limited nuclear strikes with low yield weapons, this will devestate Iran enough to allow for conventional carpet bombing and precision strikes on all military assests needed gone, to allow for air domination.
Only through this would the west dare engage Iran on the ground, just like Iraq and Afghanistan.
If the soldiers face air strikes and mortar/missiles, with no way to neutralise them, possible extended firefights with no air support or reconaissance, you can be damn well sure they will refuse to fight once they realise they are going to die eventually.
But here is to hoping Russia and China will be enough of a deterrant due to their civilians working in Iran and their military members stationed there.
USS Hoaxer Downs Iranian Attack Duck in ‘Defensive Action’
(DISASSOCIATED PRESS) – Ambiguous pirate ship, USS Hoaxer (LSD-4) has
allegedly shot down an Iranian duck that U.S. errorists say threatened the ship as it threatened Iran from the Persian Gulf on Thursday.
At about 10 a.m. local time, the USS Hoaxer was meandering around the crooked Strait of Hormuz when a vicious Iranian flexible-wing mallard duck approached the pirate ship, a petrified US official told USNGI News (US Navel Gazing Institute News).
The crew of the ship took “defensive action against the highly threatening unmanned aerial duck attack to ensure the safety of the ship and the crew,” the visibly shaken official stuttered.
The emotionally perturbed official would not detail the method in which the USS Hôxer downed the duck. The ship is armed with DUM-1 Sea Vulture short-range anti-duck missiles, the DUMR1-911 Depleted Uranium Boiling Airframe Missile (BAM) and the SUCKSNET Phallus LGBTQ point offense weapons systems.
The invading anglo-american terrorists want everyone to know that “they have begun to field a wide variety of non-kinetic systems capable of downing a duck by other means.” Apparently, they do not want anyone to know about the use of such Directed Energy Weapons to blow up houses, buses, cars, whole towns, while they set forest fires all around Santa Rosa and Paradise California…
News of the intercept first came from a press event at the White House in which President Donald Duck told goofy reporters of the downing of the vicious Iranian attack duck.
“This is the latest of many provocative and hostile actions against vessels operating in
international waters,” Grump told fake reporters in the White Sepulcher House on Thursday afternoon.
The USS Hoxer has been operating under U.S. Terrorist Central Command since mid-June with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Terror Unit and two other ambiguous pirate ships.
In addition to the USS Hoxer, the Abraham Lincoln Continental Carrier Pigeon Group has been patrolling in the Gulf of Omen and the North Arabian Sea since mid-May.
The presence of large, vicious and scary flexible-wing Iranian attack ducks near the Persian Gulf is not new, with carriers and their U.S. warships rotating through the region having interactions with them in recent years. However, the ducks typically keep their distance, making sure the U.S. ships see them but not coming close enough to where ships have had to shoot them down.

“We are aware of reports that Iranian forces seized a British oil tanker,” the chief spookesman for the US national senility council, Garrett Marquis de Sade, said in a statement. “This is the second time in just over a week the UK regime has been ridiculed by the Persian Master Duck Callers. “The US will continue to plot false-flags with our all-lies and partners in crime, in order to terrorize Iran into submission to the Almighty US Petri-Dollar!” Marquis de Sade said.
On Friday, Tehran denied Grump’s claim that US farces had downed an Iranian duck over the Gulf. Iran’s top military duck whisperer said all ducks had returned safely to their nests, but Tramp kept on lying as usual.
“No doubt about it … we shot it down,” the US president said. What President Bullshit did not say was that the downed duck was likely one of their own silly ducks…
