Mike Pence Trump

Our Special Correspondent in Washington, a source whose predictions we have found invaluable over the years, tells us that Trump’s impeachment grows more imminent by the day and that the forces behind the push to destroy the President and force him out of office are also staunch Pence supporters who would like to see Pence in the White House by the end of this year.
The same correspondent tells us that the British government, already sensing which way the wind is blowing, has not only begun to cool off considerably toward Trump in recent days, but has also begun to makes its first tentative overtures to Vice President Pence, fully expecting a new regime in Washington within the near foreseeable future.
An article in Saturday’s Daily Mail actually takes the extraordinary step of putting in a good word for Trump, saying he will be sadly “missed” when Pence takes over—a step all the more extraordinary in that the Mail’s attitude toward Trump has previously been far from complimentary. This can only mean one thing: that President Donald Trump, for all his faults, is seen as a better bet all round than President-in-waiting Mike Pence.
There is indeed the widespread perception, both in Britain and elsewhere, that to go from Trump to Pence would be like jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
Here is what the Mail says:
“During his visit to Washington this week, [British] Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt made sure he met Vice President Mike Pence. And for very good reason. Hunt has calculated that Pence may become president within months, considering Trump’s increasing problems.
If Trump decides to quit the White House — or is forced out — Pence would automatically become America’s 46th president. The canny Hunt realises that this MIGHT NOT BE GOOD NEWS FOR BRITAIN. (Emphasis added).
For all his faults, Trump, whose mother was Scottish, is at heart pro-British. Pence has no such British ancestry. What’s more, while Trump generally opposes military intervention overseas, Pence is a military hawk.”
And then comes an extraordinary accolade to the beleaguered president, surrounded as he is on all sides by salivating attack dogs, all going for his jugular:
“In future years, we may look back at the good old days of President Trump.”
That Trump’s days may indeed be numbered is an idea given credence by the strange behaviour of his wife Melania who in recent weeks has distanced herself from her polyamorous partner and given him the Iceberg Treatment. As if she is not too pleased with her hubby for being such a two-timing love rat, jumping into bed with porn stars and former Playmate models, while paying “hush money” to keep his guilty secrets under wraps—and all this caddish hanky-panky going on while Melania was in the throes of nursing their newborn son. Not nice!
Trump’s marital infidelities may be of no concern to his besotted admirers, but it nevertheless needs to be asked of them: how can a man who blatantly cheats on his wife and repeatedly breaks his promises to her, when she most needs his support, be relied upon to keep his promises to his country? To paraphrase Christ: how can you trust a man over the really big issues when you can’t even trust him over the small ones?
A recent despatch from Ian Birrell in Washington confirms that Trump’s future could well lie in his wife’s hands:
“The woman who could determine Trump’s future is the First Lady, silently enduring the humiliation of her husband’s infidelity playing out in primetime. She is a Sphinx-like figure, leaving analysts to wonder if she is trolling Trump…. His wronged wife sits in the White House knowing she possesses the power to save—or sabotage—his presidency.”
Which ever way you look at it, Melania is a woman scorned. And the vengeful wrath of the most powerful woman in America, if she decides to turn nasty, could well have devastating consequences for the President.
Our Washington correspondent, who speculates incidentally that Pence could be planning a “coup” to capture the presidency, also tells us that the rumour mill is rife with stories that Melania intends to dump her cheating husband “as soon as he is forced out of the White House.” She will then get the biggest divorce settlement in history.
Here is what gossip columnist Amanda Platell says:
“After more lurid stories about Donald Trump’s affairs with a porn star and former Playmate model, wife Melania has kept a dignified silence…. What’s the betting Melania files for divorce the moment she leaves the White House?”
My own view of this moral conundrum is determined by pragmatism: I would rather have a cheating husband like Trump who hops into bed with other women now and then, reconciled to the sad fact that not all men can aspire to be monogamous paragons of virtue, than be married to a warmongering maniac and saintly Christian Zionist like Mike Pence, with his finger on the nuclear button.
Christian Zionist Pence

“Pence adheres to the Billy Graham rule, in which husbands avoid spending time alone with women to whom they are not married.” (Wikipedia) It follows from this comment that Pence cannot possibly condone Trump’s extramarital cavortings with porn stars and former Playmate models.
Vice President Mike Pence would not only would win the full support of Israel but also of the 60-70 million Christian Zionists who back Israel to the hilt:
“Pence has stated his support of Israel and its right to attack facilities in Iran to prevent the Iranians from developing nuclear weapons, has defended the actions of Israel in its use of deadly force in enforcing the blockade of Gaza, and has referred to Israel as “America’s most cherished ally”. He visited Israel in 2014 to express his support, and in 2016 signed into law a bill which would ban Indiana from having any commercial dealings with a company that boycotts Israel. He opposes a Palestinian state.” (Emphasis added)
This is the man now waiting in the wings in anticipation of Trump’s demise, only too anxious to step into his Master’s shoes.
God help America if Hillary Clinton then becomes the only viable alternative.

Things look bad for Trump, shockingly bad, but far worse could follow after him. As the vultures circle and move in for the kill, the history books could well describe this era of American history as “the good old days of President Trump”. Hard to believe right now, admittedly, but who knows what surprises the Grim Reaper has up his sleeve for America and the world at large?
