Is Trump a Closet Megalomaniac-Dictator?

News Commentary — April 15, 2017

Is President Trump a secret megalomaniac who is just starting to come out of the closet? There has always been something of the oligarch about him but now he’s revealing himself as more than your run-of-the-mill power-monger.
First he appeared to relish the fact that he could order air strikes on Syria while he was wining and dining Chinese President Xi Jinping at Mar-a-Lago.
Trump gave the order to launch the air strikes while he and the Chinese premier were enjoying what he described as “the most beautiful piece of chocolate cake that you’ve ever seen.”
When interviewed later he couldn’t seem to remember whether he gave the order to launch air strikes on Syria or Iraq. The important thing was the chocolate cake; so much so that the Fox TV interviewer even had to remind him that it was Syria that he bombed.
One wonders whether Trump was dazzled by the chocolate cake? Or the fact that he now wields so much power that he can command life or death so far from America’s shores?

Delusion of Grandeur?

To be honest Trump begins to sound like a man who has just discovered that he has more power than he ever imagined.
As if to underline this he has now insisted on a gold plated carriage procession when he visits Buckingham Palace on his trip to the UK.
It seems Trump wants more than presidential handling, he wants the full regal treatment.
As in fit for a king.

According to the Daily Mail, he has demanded a gold-plated carriage take him down the mall when he visits the Queen.
No doubt Trump would say that it’s part of the job but this will, of course, necessitate a massive security operation on the part of the Metropolitan Police.
They are already reported to be preparing for the ‘biggest public order operation in several years’ as widespread protests are expected when President Trump visits the UK in October.
When he’s not travelling in a gold-plated carriage to visit the Queen, Trump will travel around the UK in his own presidential vehicle, which is designed to withstand a massive attack like a low-level rocket grenade.
