The tone of the coverage on Russian ships sailing to confront Islamic State ( otherwise known as ISIS, ISIL or Daesh) is telling. So too is the politician’s reaction.
British Prime Minister Theresa May has condemned Russia’s moves in Syria as sickening while the Daily Mirror describes Russia’s naval deployment as “provocative”.
If you didn’t know any better you might be mistaken for thinking that the Russians were sailing to confront an ally of the West. When in fact they are on their way to confront militants in Syria.
So why the condemnation of Russia’s action in Syria? Theresa May says the Russians have committed “appalling … sickening atrocities” in Syria. Although she has yet to provide any hard evidence to substantiate that claim.
While the media has been quick to denounce Russia’s action in Syria while turning a blind eye to Western support for militants there. Indeed the Western media and politicians seem to be working in tandem on the issue. With politicians denouncing Russia’s actions and the media loudly echoing their condemnation but providing no evidence of their supposed crimes. Ed.
