Reflections in a Petri Dish — Oct 19, 2014

Dog Poet Transmitting…….
May your noses always be cold and wet.
There are certain realities that attest to the state of the times; that tell us whether life is meaningful the way it manifests in this day and age. Here’s one of the features of the time that gives a powerful indication of what’s what
The condition of the American culture is gruesome. At every economic level, at every individual age, it’s all out of sync. I’m guessing that this has a lot to do with the basic dishonesty that is the operational hallmark of the entire system. There are all kinds of dishonesty and every single possible type is exampled in these times. All of the history that is pointed out as a record of the past is pretty much a lie and in some cases is beyond ridiculous exaggeration. All of the entertainments and what passes for art… didn’t I already say something about this? I’m sure I did. Look at the level of the marketplace. Look at the level of academia; what passes for valid in the classrooms and labs. Take a walk through the parks. Sit yourself in the bus kiosks in the morning when students are waiting for their ride to school. Take a seat at the bar or a table near some loud crowd. Listen! Listen to the conversations. Look at the way the youth talk to each other on social network in a strange combination of indecipherable street shorthand, Eubonics and inarticulate grunts. It does not pressure one into thinking some sort of a cultural renaissance is on the horizon.
I used to stand in horrific fascination of people who had migrated to the Hawaiian Islands and gone native. They would talk in this strange pidgin patois that I could not translate. Of course, the locals spoke however they spoke because there were a variety of polyglots going on and it worked for them and it was none of my business anyway but there was always something off about those middle class people who moved to Hawaii and embraced every known tradition and superstition and learned to talk in that abbreviated language that is peculiar to every land where English and other tongues are melted together in a cooking pot of multidimensional alphabet soup. You see it in the Philippines. In French lands you get Creole.
Just because I mention something does not mean I am criticizing it. I admit that the act of intentionally dumbing oneself down fascinates me but I consider trends to be a big deal. I am very concerned and interested in trends and where they lead. I think you can learn a great deal from primitive cultures if you are planning on living in a primitive culture, either because you think this is what you want or you have no choice. It works for some people. It does not work for everyone. No matter how hard one might try to blend into a way of life completely foreign to them, they are not going to accomplish it.
Okay… okay… I’ll admit it. I said this stuff just to wind some people up. I did this because, try as we might, it is very difficult for many people to step back and observe things as they actually are without the pernicious influence of the relentless programming of political correctness into every area of human thought and behavior. People are so distracted by their immersion in sensation that they just reflex respond to whatever buttons get pushed even when it should be obvious to an absurd degree that they are being worked; as was the case when Infowars went to a college campus or campuses recently and, with clipboard in hand, asked people to sign up in support of flying in Ebola infected people from anywhere, putting them up, giving them free medical care and whatever they want actually. The way it was presented, anyone paying attention or still in possession of some amount of intelligence would have near immediately known that they were being spoofed and it’s not like spoofing is some new dynamic that just came in by Fed Ex from one of the moons on Jupiter. People were, nearly all of them, signing the petition to allow Ebola carriers into the USA and opening the borders to allow anyone who wants to to come in whenever they want to.
Personally, I see the ridiculous as being the most powerful of environments that we inhabit. Looking directly at what I see every day, be it near or far, it looks like just so much autopilot, as if most of the world were the human equivalent of streetcars, slot cars, trains; those pulling and those being pulled and it doesn’t matter which because there is no freedom of departure from the route in either case. It’s like some ubiquitous world wide dance and everything is swimming through an unseen but powerful soup of toxic forces reducing the whole into fragmented chaos that seems to be managed. For a time it was slow and incremental. Now it is in freefall and it all has this cartoon like atmosphere. Thee deaths abroad aren’t real; the menacing police state, the grossly incompetent and corrupt government officials, the bizarre fantasies of religious hacks and demagogues like John Hagee. All these overblown caricatures running around like real life versions of some demented Alice in Wonderland. “You’re all a pack of cards. You’re nothing but a pack of cards!”
I don’t watch TV but I got that NFL channel so I get some amount of commercials and can see what’s happening in today’s world of corporate advertisements. The food and beer commercials are something else. They got these cheeseburgers now that have French fries or other deep fried items inside the burger buns with strips of bacon and all the rest of whatever the rest is and seen from a clear perspective upon these items and their impact on the physical system, this is nothing less than premeditated murder.
The amount of people, who are officially labeled as obese, is approaching fifty percent of the population and in some locations it has already passed that number; like in Mississippi and Alabama. This is not ‘fat’ which has official parameters too, this is obese. I’m guessing there’s another official demographic past obese but I haven’t heard about it yet. I will.
This is absolutely not a slur against people carrying a certain amount of weight on their frame. This is about the degree to which the majority of this is created by the corporations that sell the processed food in supermarkets and through chain restaurants. They are fully aware of what they are engaged in but profit at all costs is the bottom line. In fact, every corporation of any size has an entire department of accountants and lawyers whose only job is to find ways to squeeze ever greater profits from every area of operation. This means a continuous reduction in the quality of ingredients or components. This means being creative about workers benefits and salaries and squeezing wherever it is legally possible to do so, while at the same time, funding lobbyists who work to bring about corporation friendly changes in existing laws. We have already seen how effective this sort of thing is. When the Supreme Court conferred personhood on corporations they damned whatever was left of the American system of democracy. They damned it to an ugly and demeaning death.
Think about it! The highest court in the land publicly sold itself out and didn’t let it bother them one bit. Will some kind of epiphany manifest in the hearts and minds of those absolutely committed to materialism and self interest at all costs? It doesn’t usually work like that does it? Will a powerful wind of awakening consciousness sweep through the halls of government in all of the federal and state institutions in the country? That seems extremely unlikely. It’s like things suddenly falling upward. Will the members of law enforcement which now exists as a criminal gang just like the Mafia or the Israelis; will they all of a sudden wakeup and disavow all of their previous behavior? We have never seen such a thing so it seems we will not see it now. This means that things have to happen that force change and a compliance with what is fair and equitable.
With this in mind one looks out upon the world and the present levels of human behavior and human intention, aspiration and ambition. We observe the choreographed dance of the peoples around the icons of product worship, celebrity worship and all the other fixations of this magnetized plane and we wonder. We surely do wonder. I can’t help but be routinely drawn back to that compelling image of the dance of the marionettes, the little streetcars on rails, the dream zombies shuffling from trough to wallow. Every theatre of being is like watching a sitcom rerun only it isn’t a sitcom. Although it is ridiculous and possesses all the elements of gallows humor, it’s not funny. It’s not funny at all.
End Transmission…….
A radio broadcast will manifest this evening.
