Confirming they are not a modern hoax, a researcher has found photographic evidence of crop circles dating back to 1945

Sara C. Nelson – Huffington Post Jan 29, 2013

Crop circles dating back to 1945 are proof the phenomenon is no modern hoax, a Tasmanian historian claims.

The mystery of the increasingly intricate patterns was supposedly solved after several high-profile cases were revealed to be the work of artists and mischief-makers armed with barrels, planks of wood and plenty of spare time.

Credit for the hoaxes has been laid largely at the feet of pranksters Dave Chorley and Doug Bower, who in 1991 announced they had been pulling the wool over people’s eyes since 1978.

(FYI, crop circles have also been blamed on unusual weather patterns, top secret military experiments and, er, stoned wallabies.)

But research by Greg Jefferys has revealed evidence of the strange circles in the English countryside at least 33 years before Chorley and Bower took credit for the phenomena – which until then had been attributed to UFOs and alien activity.

Jefferys, who has a degree in archaeology, was prompted to research the matter after reading a report on crop circles in an 1880 edition of the science journal Nature.

The 59-year-old’s research focuses on images from Google Earth’s new 1945 overlay, which Jefferys studied for more than 300 hours.

The overlay is a series of photos taken towards the end of World War II by the RAAF and comprises around 35% of the 1945 overlay of England presently available online.

Jefferys points out the material available does not include acknowledged crop circle “hotspots” around Wiltshire.

In a research paper emailed to Huffington Post UK Jefferys writes:

“Using aerial photographs primarily from the Google Earth 1945 overlay, that the number of crop circles appearing each summer has been relatively constant for at least the last 70 years and that these crop circles cannot be explained by the ‘hoax theory’. This removal of the validity of the hoaxer’s claims means that crop circles remain an unexplained natural phenomenon deserving of serious investigation by academic institutions and other research organisations.”

Jefferys, who has previously used aerial photography to successfully locate shipwrecks, points out there have been reports of crop circles in the English countryside as far back as 300 years before the period the hoaxers began their work.

In his research Jefferys acknowledges the existence of flaws on the film caused by chemical or mechanical damage to the film on which the 1945 aerial snaps were taken and has taken these into account.

In summary, he says careful examination of the presently available images has yielded 64 shapes that were possible crop circles.

Using a process of elimination to recognise flaws in the negatives, Jefferys selected 13 which conformed strictly to his criteria. (Scroll down to view some of his evidence.)

He concludes:

“The number of circular features that can be reasonably confirmed as crop circles that have been so far found in the survey of the currently available 1945 Google Earth overlay numbers about one dozen. As this survey did not include more than 35% of England and excluded the known crop circle ‘hot spots’ around Wiltshire the findings are consistent with an annual occurrence of around 100 crop circles across the English countryside in 1945. This, combined with a significant body of historic records describing crop circles, gives the lie to the claims made by various to be the originators and creators of all crop circles. This in turn begs the question ‘If not them, then who or what is responsible for the creation of crop circles?’”

He told HuffPo UK: “There is a mounting body of evidence that suggests that a rare form of electromagnetic energy called an ionised plasma vortex (generally known as ball lightning) is involved.

“Plasma balls do weird things like passing through solid objects (such as stone walls and glass windows) and floating through the air against the wind. Exactly where this energy comes from and what causes it is not yet understood by science.

“Based on my studies I suspect that the forces involved in the creation of crop circles represent a potentially extraordinary new field of science, a new frontier that could lead to profound discoveries and entirely new technologies.

“Further I believe that if the mainstream scientific community were not so timid and so conservative in their view of the Universe that they would not be sitting on their hands pretending this thing is not happening but would be seriously investigating this unexplained phenomenon.”

We’re expecting to hear more from Jefferys, who, by the way, is about to embark on a PhD on crop circles, having found a supervisor at the University of Tasmania.

Source

A curious anomaly appeared in the Wiltshire countryside recently that seems to indicate that not all crop circles are hoaxed. Although hoaxers have already claimed credit for it. Charles Mallet explains

Charles Mallet – Silent Circle

<img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-53011" title="Knoll Down. The field was flown over in the early morning of June 26 as part of a regular morning reconnaissance of the local region. All cc recon flights are video recorded as a matter of course. The photo below shows a still (cropped) frame taken from the aerial reconnaissance video – shot at approximately 9:30 am on June 26 2012. The image clearly shows that there was no circle formation in the field at that time.

The ‘Wiltshire Microlight Centre’ lies just half a mile or so from the site of this circle event. The pilots at this airstrip took six flights during the morning of the 26th, starting around 8:00 am. Even though each take-off and landing provided a near perfect view of the area where the circle was later found, no one aboard these fights spotted any new crop circle until on the return leg of a flight; at 11:40 am the circle was spotted from one of the landing aircraft by a dutch tourist who had been scouring the local landscape for new crop circles. All earlier flights had also been laden with circle-hunters.

Given the above facts, when coupled with significant physical anomalies found and recorded within the laid wheat plants, it is considered that this crop circle event has been created by an anomalous delivery system

Circle hoaxers (SAM) claim that this circle was physically created by people on June 20 - Which is interesting when considering the above.

Updated 063011: June 28, 2011 Poirino, Italy - Two extraordinary 2011 crop formations have been reported in the northwestern town of Poirino, Italy, on June 13 and 20, 2011. Poirino is a town in the Province of Turin in the Italian Piedmont region located about 12 miles (20 km) southeast of Turin (Torino) where the famous Christ Shroud is kept. Poirino has also been the location of other crop formations over the past decade, including one alleged a year ago on June 11, 2010, that was described by the CMM research group in 2010 graphics below in More Information.

This year on June 20, 2011, a 7-petal pattern emerged that has a 7-pointed star around a ring at its center. The seven petals are divided by seven straight lines of dark (standing crop) and light (flattened crop) patterns of seven circles.

June 13, 2011 – Poirino, Italy

Seven days before the ASCII pattern on June 13, 2011, this 6-petal pattern with a 12-pointed central star and six rings dotted with various small circle patterns was found in Poirino.

Spring has brought one of 2011's first crop circles to South Wales

South Wales Argus – April 29, 2011

THIS elaborate crop circle near Chepstow may be amazing drivers, but a farmer says it has left him out of pocket.

The 220 feet diameter circle was spotted by lorry drivers coming across the old Severn Bridge on Friday and has been created in a field of oil seed rape on the Welsh side of the river near the New House industrial estate.

Who created it is currently a mystery.

The discovery was reported to the Devizes-based Wiltshire Crop Circle Study Group (WCCSG), set up in 1995 to look into such phenomena.

Its photographer, Olivier Morel took to the skies in a light aircraft on Saturday, taking these photographs of the circle, for it to be studied.

He says it is only the second crop circle ever to be reported in Wales- with the other appearing two miles north, near Woolaston Grange, last October.

He said: “The first ever crop circle reported in Wales was the last of the season last year in a field of wheat. And now, this one two miles away, is the first of the season this year.”

But farmer Paul Rymer said the damage would cost him around £600 in lost sales of the crop.

Mr Rymer, 46, who has farmed on the land for the past 12 years said the flattened crops would die and weeds would grow contaminating the damaged area.

He said: “I am not too impressed, I am annoyed about it. They don’t know how much of a problem they have caused.”

Mr Rymer said he had now installed surveillance cameras on the land in a bid to catch any would-be vandals.

He added: “We do not want them starting it anywhere else.”

This past summer has been a momentous season for crop circle research, involving pristine new formations, British Intelligence and black, unmarked helicopters. Rixon Stewart explains

This summer has been a momentous one for crop circles researchers, possibly the most significant ever. With minimal publicity they have uncovered some of their most significant findings to date and perhaps even more telling has been the response to these discoveries.

In the early hours of July 7, 2007, three crop circle researchers were watching over East Field in Pewsey Vale when they witnessed what could be a break through in research into the phenomenon. Lying in the heart of crop circle country, the vale has seen a fair number of formations over the years – both faked and those which may not have been faked. But on July 7 events began to unfold that could have come straight from an X-Files storyline.

According to Gary King, one of the three who had been watching over East Field:

“On a couple of occasions, I’ve had intuitions about crop circles like you would have before a phone is going to ring. I’ve had intuitions where I’ve gotten up in the morning and driven down to Wiltshire from my home in Wales and been lucky enough to walk into a fresh formation.”

On Friday, July 6, 2007, Gary woke up in his Wales home around 3:30 AM, watched the sunrise and decided to go to Wiltshire with his girlfriend, Paula, to see if any new formations had appeared.

Arriving in Wiltshire Gary went to the Silent Circle Café, something of a gathering point for researchers where someone mentioned the possibility of a crop formation in East Field, Pewsey Vale. So, with a borrowed sleeping bag he set off for a night’s vigil watching over the now famous field.

On arrival Gary met up with UFO and Crop Circle investigator, Winston Keech, who had already set up surveillance cameras on Knap Hill, overlooking East Field. Nothing happened after the three settled down for the night until shortly after 3.00AM when they saw a sudden flash: “almost like lightning” says Gary that “covered the whole land and was like a big camera flash going off everywhere”.

Then at around 3.20am, they saw the formation through a viewfinder on a light sensitive camera. At 3.45am it was light enough to see the formation with the naked eye and the three went down to East Field for a closer inspection.

When they got there they found “wheat circles”, says Gary that “were raised 6 inches above the ground so when we stepped in, the plants crunched under our feet like we were stepping on delicate crystals…”

Not only did it have every appearance of being the real thing but it was big, very big. Estimated to cover 96,600 square feet, or 2.25 acres, the formation was made up of 150 separate circles ranging in size from just over 2 foot to 150 foot in diameter.

According to Gary: “Some of the centres were beautifully laid out in nests. Other centres were actually broken, so there were indications that some of them had very strong energy on them and others were put down with very great care and beautifully laid. It was a very contrasting formation in terms of differences in each individual circle.”

Apart from Gary, Paula and Winston there was no one else around and pointedly, there were no crop circle fakers either. This is significant because in the weeks following its appearance various individuals would rather unconvincingly claim responsibility for having created the formation.

But as word spread and more people went to see the formation a new element appeared: unmarked, black helicopters.

In fact the presence of unmarked, black helicopters over the formation became a regular feature. They were seen and photographed a number of times hovering menacingly over the crop circle, almost as if they were trying to intimidate the researchers below.

Another notable feature was the paucity of publicity the formation received. With the notable exception of a report in a local newspaper it got almost no media coverage. In itself this may not seem very important but it is in distinct contrast to the widespread media attention accorded to crop circle hoaxers Doug and Dave, some years back.

You may remember when they first claimed responsibility for creating crop circles in the early 1990’s Doug and Dave received extensive media attention. Across the globe stories and photos of the two pensioners appeared, as if their amusing pranks solved the mystery of crop circles once and for all.

They didn’t, of course but now the mainstream media was virtually unanimous in its silence over the Pewsey Vale formation. The contrast in coverage couldn’t have been more telling; almost as if the media were now deliberately trying to play down the phenomenon.

Strange as it may seem though the contrast in media coverage, the black helicopters and the faked crop circles may be part of the same game plan. But in order to fully comprehend it and understand how these varied elements interact we need to refer to the work of esoteric Christian teacher Rudolph Steiner.

Steiner was at pains to point out that there is not one “devil” but a number of different entities who are opposed to humanity’s higher evolution. The reason is simple: they thrive on mankind’s lower nature.

In effect our ignorance, anger, hatred, envy, pride, bitterness and so on empower them, almost literally.

Consequently, they have a vested interest in ensuring that men do not evolve spiritually. Nonetheless, according to Steiner mankind is destined to ultimately take command of these entities and redeem them. But he can only do so once he transcends his own lower nature.

Opposing mankind on the path of higher evolution are two major spiritual adversaries, said Steiner. The first operates exactly as all the words derived from his name suggest. Lucifer lures men from their true destiny with illusion, delusion and the luminosity of counterfeit spirituality.

He is the herald of a false dawn and the harbinger of fake spiritual illumination.

Lucifer’s influence can be seen today in much of the new age movement; in the razzamatazz of modern entertainment and particularly in the fractal reserve banking system; which creates wealth, or more precisely the illusion of wealth, out of nothing at all and in the process enslaves large sections of humanity under illusionary notions of “national debt”.

Lucifer’s counterpart was known to the ancient Persians as Ahriman and although he often works hand-in-glove with Lucifer his attributes are entirely different. Whereas Lucifer strives to distract with falsehood and fantasy, Ahriman attempts to entrap men in a world of pure materialism devoid of any spiritual meaning.

Although, like Lucifer his influence can be seen in banking, Ahriman thrives in cold, hard materialism, particularly the realm of scientific materialism. Indeed Ahriman’s influence permeates much of modern culture with a deadening effect, often quite literally: vivisection, weapons research and development being areas of activity where Ahriman’s sway is paramount.

More commonly referred to today as Satan, Ahriman’s influence and the way it interacts with Lucifer’s can be seen clearly in the run up to the invasion of Iraq and its aftermath.

First we had speculation about Saddam Hussein’s Weapons of Mass Destruction and claims that they could be deployed in 45 minutes. All of this subsequently turned out to be completely groundless but for a while stories about Saddam’s WMD were a staple in the mainstream media.

In effect they helped pave the way for the invasion of Iraq using Lucifer’s power to deceive: by portraying Saddam Hussein and his supposed WMD as an imminent threat to the west. This, in turn, was used as a pretext to unleash satanic forces in the form of a high tech military onslaught that at the time of writing has accounted for nearly a million lives.

Most of the victims were innocent civilians, ensnared through a combination of lies and brute force and sacrificed on the altar of scientific materialism in the interests of geo-political necessity.

To a lesser extent and in different ways these same forces have been at work in and around the Pewsey Vale.

However, let me stress that I am not implying that diabolical forces are involved in the creation of authentic crop circles, they are not. But such forces are intent on preventing a deeper understanding of the phenomenon.

To this end, numerous crop circles have been faked so that when an authentic crop circle appears the uninitiated automatically assume it’s been hoaxed. This is Lucifer’s influence at work and it can be seen in the efforts of various crop circle hoaxers who claim what they are doing is a form of ‘art’.

One such group even started out by calling themselves “Team Satan”.

But then Steiner taught that when Lucifer is not creating outright illusions, he beguiles in the guise of ‘art’, or at least he inspires such ‘art’. And if he can’t do that then he does his best to confuse those who are looking for the truth by presenting them with counterfeits.

Like many of the much publicised but faked crop circles.

Another hidden element behind the creation of many of the faked crop circles has been British Intelligence. That’s right: the very people behind the so-called “dodgy dossier” and claims that Saddam Hussein was developing WMD are also behind the creators of many fake crop circles.

How do we know? Well, it’s here that the various threads in this tale begin to intertwine. Because after changing their name from Team Satan to the Circlemakers, these artistes went on to set up a website of the same name which featured recruitment adverts for: MI5, MI6, GCHQ and various other branches of Britain’s security services.

After a while this all became a little too obvious and the recruitment ads were removed. But it was a clear indication that many of the supposed crop circle fakers are in fact in the service of British intelligence

Which is not to say that the Circlemakers themselves are high level Intelligence assets, they are not. But like Intelligence organisations the world over Britain’s security services makes use of low life operatives to do their dirty work; not only to further obscure their plans but also to make plausible denial that much more plausible.

So although many of the crop circle fakers are little more than confidence tricksters and petty criminals, their strings are being pulled from a much higher level within Britain’s security establishment.

More to the point though, British Intelligence – the very people behind the murder of Princess Diana and who provided the false intelligence which was used to justify the invasion of Iraq – are deliberately trying to obscure a genuine paranormal phenomenon.

I don’t profess to grasp the significance behind its symmetry but the fields of crop circle country contain a message for the whole of humanity and British Intelligence are deliberately trying to conceal it.

Compelling evidence is emerging about what is really behind phenomenon after a crop circle appeared in Pewsey Vale, Wiltshire (left). Hoaxers with ropes and boards didn’t create this particular formation

thisissomerset

It could be the first and most compelling evidence of a mysterious creator of Wiltshire’s famous crop circles – a flash of white light and a crop circle appears in front of startled researchers.

And all this captured in the dead of night on an array of hi-tech cameras without a sniff of any hoaxers with ropes and boards.

Yesterday the crop circle community in Wiltshire was buzzing with probably the most significant single piece of evidence since the entire phenomenon began more than 30 years ago – a crop circle created in front of three eye-witnesses, a bank of light-sensitive video cameras and a mysterious flash minutes before the circle appeared.

The incident occurred two weeks ago, in the early hours of July 7.

Two croppies, Gary King and his friend Paula Presdee-Jones were sitting atop Knapp Hill with a UFO spotter Winston Keech, who was more interested in filming strange lights than crop circles.

Their testimony, released for the first time yesterday, is as mysterious as it is compelling.

Mr Keech had a series of cameras focussed on the Pewsey Vale below – the heart of crop circle country – and would make regular sweeps of the fields with another infra-red camera.

The trio were last able to see the famous East Field at Alton Barnes at 1.35am, before it got too dark to make out the wheat. With the rest of his cameras running, and capturing no light, movement or sound in the field, the trio watched the darkness until a blinding flash of light in the sky hit them at 3.13am.

At 3.20am – little over 100 minutes since they were last able to see the wheat – the cameras picked out a huge crop formation.

The circles themselves cover an area of more than two acres, and are more than 1,000ft long by 500ft wide. There are 150 individual large circles, with about 60 other smaller ‘satellite’ circles. It is the biggest formation of the year so far, and kick-started a frenzy of crop circle activity in the Wiltshire countryside – at least 10 other huge formations have been created in the week and a half since. Gary King said: “I have no idea how this formation was created. I just know that it wasn’t there at 1.35am, and it was there at 3.20am. Win had lots of cameras filming that field and they picked nothing up, so if there was a huge gang of people there, they used no lights, no lasers, no equipment and made no sound. And they created this huge circle in complete darkness in less than an hour and three-quarters. For me the flash of light is important. It was like sheet lightning, but it was a dull white light for a split second. I knew something had happened right then, and within 10 minutes we were filming the formation. When I was the first to go into the formation at 4am I felt blessed, a great deal of euphoria.

“Personally, I feel this should be a catalyst to serious study of what is going on here. This is vindication, it feels like confirmation of all the time and energy everyone has put into this phenomenon over the years.”

Cameraman Winston Keech added: “I was careful to do things like make notes of any vehicles passing and stopping, and use handheld cameras to focus on them. If there was any hoax activity, there was an overlapping mesh of surveillance which would have seen that.”

Crop circle experts filled the Memorial Hall at Alton Barnes yesterday for the first showing of the footage.

Norwegian crop circle expert Terje Toftenes said: “There has been much scientific analysis of things like what happens to the crops in formations and there is a floodgate that needs to be open now and all those scientists who have researched this should come forward.”

Commentary

We will have more on this in the coming days, including some really intriguing photos and not just of crop circles either.

Crop circle researcher Charles Mallet assures us that there have been major new developments in the feild and has promised to provide further details in the near future. In the meantime more photos of the crop circle mentioned in the article above can be seen here.

As Sherman Skolnick would say: stay tuned. Ed.

Earthfiles

We are Umberto Morazzoni & Bibbi Boström, we have been into the AUM formation on 18th of the last July…when we reached the AUM formation we noticed an APACHE-like helicopter that was trying to land into the crop circle.. but when it realized that we were entering the formation it has gone up again.. after this, we entered the Crop and we found two people.. one was a tourists’ guide and the other an old American Astronaut.. ( claimed the guide )

The Guide was continuously speaking about the fact that the formation was surely fake.. it’s fake for this it’s non genuine and that .. and so on.. ( but the next morning on the Daily Xpress paper and some other newspapers, there was the news about the ultra genuineness of the formation cause 4 professional infrared cameras were installed at the four corners of the formation field.. and they were recording right the night the formation have been done.. in the video it’s possible to see just an interference, and then .. the formation was done.. this is the article…

http://www.westpress.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=145809&command=displayContent&sourceNode=145792&contentPK=17882867&moduleName=InternalSearch&formname=sidebarsearch

After a couple of minutes the guide and the astronaut left the AUM Circle, and in a bounce of minutes two APACHE like helicopter came.. they were spinning on our heads, no more than 10-20 meters .. it was a bit scaring and I think that was their purpose.. ( I’m not new to Crop Circle and Black helicopters that try to scare their visitors ) Second I was there with my wife that’s actually pregnant so . .do you know what I mean ?

I thought that a walk into a lonely field in the middle England would not have been so dangerous.. it isn’t it ? The worst thing that could happen is a Bee’s bite )

Anyway there were this two black military helicopter buzzing on our head, but after some minute a third helicopter came..this one was different from the others.. it was like a Black Hawk , do you know !? the ones that can take on 20 or even 30 soldiers.. it started to spin upon us like the others..at this point i was a bit scared .. they were there for me and Bibbi, I thought what the hell they want from us.. ? Probably the purpose was to discourage or demoralize the Crop visitors… but I didn’t know.. anyway the situation was unreal, quite like we were into a Vietnam movie.. that’s crazy in the Wiltshire because of his relaxing landscape..

At a given time the easy KOP-ters.. have been distracted by something that we didn’t see, but the foto camera of Bibbi did..have a look here, what do you think ? http://img127.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sworseud7.jpg
( whatever could be that object I thanks it very much because they stopped to annoy us )..

After the object appeared in the scene they left us in peace and tried to follow or catch it, with very spectacular and strange maneuvers.. dizzy nosedives, 90° speedy veers and so on.. for a moment I really thought that someone was making a movie…

This is the footage about one of the Helicopters ( before the strange object in photo appeared ) of that afternoon..

http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=0rwaPAgMWW8

ùHere some shots taken from the video and from another video not yet published:

http://img478.imageshack.us/my.php?image=easykoptersbehindio8.jpg

A plea for Crop Circle visitors.. Don’t be afraid of this helicopters, they try to scare Crop Circles visitors but they can’t do anything but spinning on your head or letting you believe they will attack you but it’s not true !!

Anyway don’t provoke them by strange actions, I don’t know what they could be able to do, in those moments you can’t do a Drug- Alcohol test on the pilots of the helicopters.. so be anyway careful.. So don’t care at all, visit the circle and, if you like, do even yoga inside them.. relax and enjoy these spectacular new form of art of these times.. and remember that the hot spot is not the genuineness of the formation and it’s not relevant even if they have been from Humans or aliens, the only important thing is the SYMBOL that they represent or why someone does them.

Bye.

Intrigue in Crop Circle Country
The past few weeks have seen intriguing new developments in crop circle research. Word has only just reached us as this writer has been in the process of relocating to Scotland. Nonetheless, word is that crop researchers have uncovered some of their most significant findings to date and equally as telling has been the response of the authorities to their findings.

In the early hours of July 7, 2007, three crop circle researchers were watching over East Field in Pewsey Vale when they witnessed what could be turning point in paranormal research. Lying in the heart of crop circle country, the vale has seen a fair number of formations over the years – both faked and those which may not have been faked. But on July 7 a formation appeared that could have come straight from an episode of The X-Files.

Among the three eyewitnesses was Gary King. According to Gary:

“On a couple of occasions, I’ve had intuitions about crop circles like you would have before a phone is going to ring. I’ve had intuitions where I’ve gotten up in the morning and driven down to Wiltshire from my home in Wales and been lucky enough to walk into a fresh formation.”

On Friday, July 6, 2007, Gary woke up in his Wales home around 3:30 AM, watched the sunrise and on impulse decided to go to Wiltshire with his girlfriend, Paula, to see if any new crop formations had appeared.

Gary arrived in Wiltshire at midday and went to the Silent Circle Café, something of a gathering point for crop circle researchers, where someone mentioned the possibility of a crop formation in East Field, Pewsey Vale. So, with a sleeping bag borrowed from the café’s owner, Charles Mallet, he set off for a night’s vigil watching over the now famous field.

Together with UFO and Crop Circle Investigator, Winston Keech, the three settled down for the night on Knap Hill, overlooking East Field after having set up image-enhancing cameras. Nothing happened until shortly after 3.00 when the three report seeing a sudden flash, according to Gary: “almost like lightning” that “covered the whole land and was like a big camera flash going off everywhere”.

At around 3.20am looking through a light sensitive camera the three report seeing the formation, which became visible to the naked eye at around 3.45am.

Is it authentic or a man made fake? Resident in the epicenter of the phenomena, Charles Mallet reports first-hand on one of this year's first crop circles

Charles Mallet – June April 16, 2010

“This circle glyph was discovered from the air around noon on April 15, 2007. It sits alongside (the hill fort) of Oliver’s Castle near Devizes, Wiltshire, and can be seen from the Castle embankment. The pattern spans across 333 feet of the field with the outer ring of the main circle measuring 33-feet-wide. Seven arcs, each approximately 5-feet-wide cut through the central body of the circle.

“Even though this formation was reported April 15, all indications on the ground point towards it having been around for at least two days. Much of the crop is fully recovered to its original upright growing position, with no damage sustained to this portion of the crop. About half of the crop that is still laid down is unbroken and continuing to grow horizontally, while the other half of the still-downed crop is damaged by agencies unknown at this time.”

These Rape-Seed (Canola) stems were taken from within the formation some days after it was first reported. The steep rigid bends seen here at the base of these very brittle stems were prevalent throughout the laid crop in the formation in a more or less even distribution, as were many broken examples, that appear to be the result of foot stomping, perhaps by previous visitors, or some other mechanical actions. The plants that exhibited such anomalous bending at the base continue to grow parallel with the ground.

Team Satan, the alleged crop circle makers, must love the attention they have been receiving from the British press this year. It seems whenever you switch on the TV or open a newspaper there they are: standing in a field of wheat, wielding planks of wood, bits of string and generous amounts of their somewhat dubious talent. At the very least these guys are skilled at fooling people, particularly the media; and they have been so successful you could be forgiven for thinking that the media actually wanted to believe them.

Of course anybody who visits a number of formations throughout summer knows full well that the aforementioned tools could not possibly be used in making large numbers of crop circles. The implied methodology just doesn’t work; it defies basic logic. To create formations that display large scale weaving, multi-directional layering, pathways a few stems wide and feather light layering of the wheat into waves and whirlpools, not to mention the severe heat damage to the plants and, on occasion, insects, observed by myself and numerous others, requires a method of construction that people such as Team Satan are simply not capable of. They have proved this point on many occasions; in fact, every public demonstration of circle making by these people contains all the evidence needed to conclude that they are indeed, not the circle makers. But still they make their claims, and still, without fail, the media, publish and promote the idea that their planks are responsible for the incredible formations that continue to appear in large numbers and in completely inexplicable circumstances on almost every night of the summer.

No doubt, these guys and a few even less talented locals do make a few formations each year, we have seen them at it on various occasions. The consequences are what one would expect from a group of heavy men stomping on the corn with chunks of wood. The end result looks flat, rough and messy and displays a total lack of style, fluidity and finesse. This is completely in contrast to the majority of formations examined by myself and others. Even though Team Satan’s formations may look terrible on the ground with some clever photography and editing things can look dramatically different. With a computer, photo enhancement and some technological trickery anything is possible, at least in terms of appearances. So it doesn’t even matter if they produce an unconvincing crop circle, by the time the formation gets on TV it will, all of a sudden, look very good. Quite simply these people are out to convince the public that they are making the formations but anybody who has studied and examined the crop circles will know full well that they just aren’t doing it.

This conclusion is based on extensive observation and experience with a large number of formations, including man made formations over the previous few years.

This years hoax promotion by the Mail On Sunday 3/9/2000, with Team Satan as the stars is a classic example of our media taking a subject that will not sit comfortably with the established view of things and then trying to rubbish it. What a shame. This is a subject that is crying out for some honest and sensible investigation. Instead of honesty and integrity we get lies and arrogance. I wonder how long the Mail can get away with lying to its huge readership on such a regular basis. The article in question, regarding the flimsy claims of Team Satan (what a silly name) is so full of irregularities and inconsistencies that it would be hard for anybody to take seriously. Aside from the problems with the details of the hoax claim, the article itself looked like a piece of pure tabloid journalism.

With this article, Team Satan provided a set of diagrams showing how the Avebury Trusloe, magnetic field (moiré) formation was constructed. It appears that there are some problems with this plan of construction. Crop Circle Researcher Michael Glickman explains:

They stated in The Mail on Sunday, September 3rd 2000 . . .“Using 120ft of tape, an inner circle is made. On this circle, make a mark every 4ft, 60 in all, like minutes on a clock.”

Let’s briefly examine this bullshit! The diagrams imply that the tape is held at the center and swung around the perimeter. Therefore the circle is of radius ( R ) 120FT. The diameter ( D ) will thus be 240ft. We can apply the formula ( C ) circumference =2pi R. Taking pi as 3.1415. . . the circumference will be 753.96ft. If this is divided into 4ft units, there will be 188.49 of them! Dividing the circumference into 60 equal bits produces a unit of 12.566ft, which is more realistic.

I think we know these people well enough by now to be unsurprised by their blatant lies. Yet it still irks that the British press is happy to treat its readership as mindless idiots. Michael Glickman

Unfortunately it doesn’t end there. A quick look at Team Satan’s web page reveals some other interesting features: including recruitment ads for MI5, MI6 and GCHQ plus offers of “A Career in the Intelligence Services.” When we inquired via email about the ads Team Satan assured us that they were just an “ironic gesture.”

Maybe so but when we told Peter Hillmore – the journalist responsible for The Mail on Sunday’s piece on Team Satan – about the advertisements he too assured us that they were just an “ironic gesture.” So the fact that he didn’t mention them in his article was, we assume, just a coincidence. Even more notable is the fact that the advertisements themselves were embossed with the words “Crown Copyright.” meaning that if you wanted to use them you first had to obtain the approval of the advertisers. We leave you to figure that one out.

The fact that Team Satan are prepared to make such claims is a measure of their contempt for the British public. Do we deserve it? Well the fact that The Mail on Sunday is one of the countries biggest selling Sunday papers really leaves that question wide open. Ed.

The dinner party was full of interesting conversation and insights into crop circles, writes researcher Charles Mallet, but it was what followed that was really intriguing

Charles Mallet – The Silent Circle Cafe

On the evening of July 19 2004 a dinner party was held at Avebury, hosted by members of the “Norwegian Crop Circle Group”, headed by Eva Marie Brekkestø. Also in attendance was circle researcher Charles R Mallett and farmers, James and Ellie Strong, owners of the farm land in the region of the white horse at Pewsey in Wiltshire, where the formation in question appeared.

On the menu for this evening social event was a sumptuous traditional Norwegian four course supper with inevitable helpings of animated discussion regarding the manifestation of crop circles, their apparent effects on people, the science and indeed the whole range of anomalous phenomena that permeate this enduring enigma.

Mr and Mrs Strong have in previous years received a number of formations on their land and approach the subject with open minds, laced with a hearty dose of understandable scepticism. This approach however took a substantial jolt in July 2002 when their field of wheat directly below the white horse was visited by a most impressive and sophisticated crop glyph, “The Nautilus”, leaving the farm owners and serious researchers alike struck with awe as the inexplicable event presented itself under extremely bizarre circumstances.

Our mutually informative and cordial evening ended at midnight with several of the party exclaiming “how amazing it would be if the farm was once again the venue for a serious crop circle event” in the light of the evenings conversations. With this on our collective minds we said our goodbyes and parted company.

The Shock

At 0800 hrs on the 20th of July Eva Marie received a telephone call from a rather shaken Mrs Strong. Incredibly there was indeed a new formation on the Strong’s land, not only that, it was directly below the white horse in their fast maturing wheat, just a very short distance from where the 2002 event had manifest almost exactly two years earlier. Permission was granted immediately for the dinner party group of circle researchers to enter the new event as soon as possible and conduct serious examination of the enigmatic new arrival. With great haste and a palpable excitement, the researchers gathered all necessary equipment before the short trip to the Strong’s farm.

The Circle

Walking up the tramlines at (approx) 0900 hrs we could clearly see that the new crop circle was spanning just fewer than three tramlines and measured a modest (approx) 180 ft diameter. As we made our approach all defining edges to the event looked sharp to the point of cookie cutter perfection. The pace quickened as we took the final steps to the edge of the formation. From here the whole event was more or less visible, spread out before us like the “female of ages” Even though in terms of size and shape it was not particularly sophisticated, its balance, poise and simplicity gave it an instant quality of its very own.

From our vantage point we were able to discern a very slick and smooth laid crop area that seemed to extend throughout the entire formation in a seamless water-like flow, rippling and banking as the laid down crop curved in and out of the perimeter cantors of the little glyph.

Close Up Impressions

For the next two hours or so the formation received close quarters examination to determine the validity of the glyph as a genuine paranormal event.

It very quickly became apparent that we were not the first people to have entered the formation. Evidence was suggesting that a small number of visitors had indeed been in the formation. These earlier visitors had left a number of rather crude impressions in the otherwise perfect laid crop areas including a very clumsy and obvious path through the standing crop leading to one of the four outer detached circles. Also in some central areas of the formation severe plant crushing had occurred leaving one with the impression that the visitors had taken absolutely no care in how they had conducted themselves in the formation.

It is noteworthy to separate the type of damage to the wheat plants detailed above from the much more subtle hoaxer marks and activity occasionally found in circles of a more suspect nature. All the damage that was found can be attributed to a few visitors who had happened across the circle.

Aside from the specified damage the glyph was clean and neat with no traces of organized human activity that would suggest that the formation was a fake; therefore it was the conclusion of all those present that this crop circle formation represented a genuine and unexplained happening. Subsequent examination by other experienced researchers has drawn the same conclusions and at the time of writing this one goes in the category of genuine crop circles.

The Black Helicopter

Less than ten minutes into the examination of the formation the situation in the local airspace took a rather odd turn. From behind the hill and white horse came a rather sinister black helicopter, no decals, numbers or ID markings were to be seen on the aircraft at all. The Chopper purposely approached the new glyph and spent several minutes circling very low, occasionally hovering, as if taking photographs of the formation, allowing all present to get a very close look at the thing. The Chopper then flew away, only to return twice more over the course of the next fifteen minutes. Each time it returned it carried out similar manoeuvres in the immediate area where the formation had just some hours earlier arrived.

From this we can only conclude that, despite what the scientific community may say to the contrary, elements within the establishment are taking a serious look at crop circles. Although to acknowledge this would give credence to claims that not all crop circles are faked and that some are a genuine paranormal phenomenon, the fact remains that the powers that be are also interested in crop circles.

Crop circle researcher Charles Mallet recounts his first contact with the phenomenon and the interest that the military seem to have

My first encounter with the crop circle phenomenon began in late summer 1996. At the time I was living on the north coast of Devon, a half-day’s journey to the heart of crop circle territory in Wiltshire. I was an avid investigator of the esoteric and unexplained, delving into the paranormal and occult worlds, UFOs and extraterrestrial intelligence, the secret origin of the human species and other contemplative subjects such as ecology and spirituality. I was absorbed by the inter-relatedness of these subjects as well as what was known and systematically covered-up or manipulated by the military, government agencies and the media. While I was immersed in all this, trying to distinguish between the information and disinformation, I got a glimpse of a big event happening in Wiltshire that I had been ignoring. The reason 1 hadn’t paid serious attention to the unfolding crop circle story was because I had naively accepted the “circle hoax” theory.

As far back as 1991 I had swallowed the story that pensioners Doug and Dave had made them all; e.g., “There is nothing happening here, go back to sleep.”

Then in the winter of 1996,1 happened across an obscure UFO magazine with a feature article on crop circles from the previous summer. My jaw dropped and a tingle shot up my spine! WOW! This was a major wake-up call. I had seen pictures of simple circles and the odd pictogram, but these new images were staggering. They struck me as having the foremost importance. Why were they not on the headline news? I was an avid reader, why had I seen so little about them in the media?

I found myself staring in near disbelief at the three major formations from that year: the Stonehenge and Windmill Hill spirals and the Alton Barnes double helix or DNA formation. Amazing! The notion that people had made these massive and geometrically sophisticated designs seemed absurd. This was something much more than a hoax or prank. But to be certain, I would need to investigate them first-hand.

I made the decision in that moment to visit the crop circles at the earliest opportunity, but I would have to wait through the winter. In those bleak months I read everything I could lay my hands on relating to the subject. I was pretty sure by now that the crop circle phenomenon was one of the most important, if not the most important event on the planet and hardly anybody was paying attention to it.

My first foray into Wiltshire, the most prolific area for the circles to manifest, was early July 1997. After several tedious hours on the bus I arrived at a small Wiltshire market town, my rucksack stuffed with tent, sleeping bag and as much food as I could carry. My plan was to stake out a hill in an area of regular circle activity and await the appearance of a glyph. After hours and hours of walking and searching for the right spot, I arrived at my final destination, the Vale of Pewsey.

The area looked and felt utterly magical, a place where almost anything was possible. Sitting up on those hills, overlooking the expansive crop fields, I sensed a still intensity in the atmosphere. The Vale held something enigmatic and deeply penetrating.

Nothing too far out of the ordinary happened in the first couple days. I took in the amazing scenery and had some magical, enchanted moments but no crop circles. I had expected to see them everywhere in every field and felt rather disappointed that this was not the case. I actually began to wonder if all those images from the cereal fields were nothing more than an elaborate computer- generated hoax. Surely not!?

On the third day of my first week’s outing, as I was wandering around a souvenir shop in the tourist Mecca of Avebury, I overheard a man addressing the shop manager. The words, “new crop circle”, immediately grabbed my attention. After pushing my way through a dense crowd of tourists I arrived at the counter and practically demanded to know all about the new circle. Where is it? How far is that? Can you give me a ride? OK, then, I’ll walk!

Thus, I set out to cover the six or seven miles to the new arrival at Alton Barnes, which I did in less than two hours! I was full of renewed enthusiasm and had at last a specific destination. People were already milling around the formation when I arrived. I walked straight into the huge and elaborate pattern and within minutes of entering I was convinced that humans could not have made it. The crop was not flat to the floor, as one would expect if it had been put down with planks of wood or garden rollers. Instead it looked as if some sort of fluid had whipped and washed around the area very swiftly to create the formation as it flowed. Everything I saw left me with the impression that a single agency had been at work in this field the previous night, rather than any group or team effort. I was hooked and hungry for more.

Throughout the remainder of that summer I spent many weeks in the circles and on the land, often having bizarre experiences with the formations or people I met. It was almost as though I was being guided.

The following summer (1998) I did much the same, spending as much time as possible in Wiltshire, sleeping on the hills, interacting with the land and the circles and indeed many people who were similarly involved in the circle phenomenon. By late summer that year I was well acquainted with outdoor life and loved every minute of it.

A major turning point in my life occurred one sunny afternoon that summer. As 1 was relaxing on Adams Grave, a Neolithic hilltop burial site near Alton Barnes while marveling at a giant formation in the valley below, a trio of women entered the scene. One of these women, Frances, was later to become my wife and partner in crop circle research. I moved to Devizes, the small market town where I first landed to begin my crop circle pilgrimage and where I now work for a local charity as I continue to research and report on the ever-evolving crop circle story.

With the passage of time intriguing new elements began to enter the picture. One such occurred in 24 July 1999 when a crop circle appeared in the wheat opposite the mysterious Silbury Hill. As on previous occasions, my wife Frances and I decided to spend the night in this latest arrival, in the hope of experiencing some residual effects.

We were not to be disappointed!

Shortly before dusk (approximately 9:30pm) we set off from our home and drove the ten miles to the circle location. We parked in the Silbury Hill car park, crossed the road and made our way up the hill dragging all our equipment along with us including cameras, binoculars, sleeping bags, rain covers and even our dog, Vesta. A few minutes later we came upon the formation, which –– like a huge starfish –– was spread out over the top of the hill. It must have been at least two hundred and fifty feet in diameter, very impressive. As we stepped into the formation, daylight was starting to fade so we wasted no time in selecting a spot to sit out the forthcoming night. We opted for the very centre of the glyph, largely for practical reasons. From this spot we had a clear view of the surrounding landscape.

After a few moments getting ourselves comfortable we sat quietly with Vesta, taking in the view and marvelling at an evocative sunset. No more than ten minutes had gone by when we both spotted what appeared to be a luminous sphere of light hanging in midair close to a copse of trees, some half mile from our position across the valley. No sooner had we seen this orb of orange-ish light than it blinked out. We looked at each other in mild amazement. What the hell was that? Just a few moments later it reappeared in the same spot as before.

The fact that this was happening in the twilight caused us both excitement. In our experience, such obvious daylight or dusk sightings are rather rare. We had a clear, direct view of the activity. It was quickly apparent that we were observing something very strange indeed. We both sat and watched this single light hang there for some thirty minutes. As the ambient light faded and darkness set in, the sphere grew in brightness and was perceivable as soccer ball size. Nothing happened with this light for the next hour or so when suddenly a second one appeared next to the original. This new arrival was smaller and a little less bright but was nevertheless still obvious from our viewing position. We went on to watch these two objects for what seemed ages. It was, in fact, a couple hours.

I could hardly believe that not a single car travelling on the fairly busy A4 road, which runs between Silbury Hill and the circle site, stopped for a better look at these objects hanging low in the sky just to the left of the road. Strangely, no one seemed to notice a thing.

As the moon rose into the sky, it illuminated our surroundings and provided excellent all-round visibility. After another half hour the pair of lights began to move, only in a very localized but nevertheless purposeful manner. Both lights were performing very subtle and gentle arching movements. Again we watched this for what seemed like ages, at least an hour. At this point we speculated about the nature of what we were observing and considered it quite possible, if not probable, that we were witnessing the arrival of a new formation, or as circle researchers call it, “the holy grail”

A short time later the second, less bright light vanished as quickly as it had appeared. All the time this was going on I was attempting to take still photographs of the lights, but I was having problems with the camera. As soon as I switched the power on it would go off immediately or the zoom lens would go in and out of its own accord. All attempts to photograph the lights failed, or so I thought. As it turned out, when I had my film developed one frame had the larger of the two lights perfectly captured (pictured above).

Although none of the travellers along the A4 seemed to notice the weird lights in the sky, others did. Military helicopters arrived at very high speed a few hours into the sighting.

From our rear and heading straight for the one remaining light came a pair of heavy, extremely noisy choppers. Soon after flying directly over our heads at approximately one hundred and fifty feet, the helicopters arrived in the general area of the activity. But just as they got close however, the light blinked out and suddenly reappeared approximately five miles away over dense woods near the village of Lockeridge. The light, still just as bright, remained in this second location for the entire time the helicopters were in its original position (about five minutes in all).

These choppers had arrived, it seemed, with a clear intent and appeared quite confused when they lost the target. For some reason the helicopters did not appear to see the light over the woods at all. They then left the area as fast as they had arrived. As they did so the bright orange-ish light reappeared in its original position. After this no more helicopters came close and the light remained in place for several hours, periodically moving in subtle arching motions as before.

We eventually went off to sleep and awoke around 4:30 am. We searched the area of activity from the previous night in the hope of finding a fresh new formation. It was not to be found; no formations arrived in that general direction that night. However, the following night, right where we both had observed the light phenomenon for hours and hours, a small “flower of life” formation did indeed show up (pictured below).

National Geographic will be covering this in the coming weeks but you can read about it here first; as John J. Hawkins reports from the heart of crop circle country on the murkier side of the phenomenon

Over the past decade or so we have been treated to an annual display of crop circles. Spectacular and often highly symbolic, they’ve captured the media’s attention and the public’s imagination. Yet as researchers Colin Andrews and Busty Taylor have pointed out, nearly 80% of these crop circles are man made.

Having said that, it should be emphasised that not all crop circles are hoaxed. The simple, yet elegant formations, which graced the feilds around Avebury and Stonehenge during the 60′s, 70′s and 80′s, (long before the hoaxers began to stomp the fields), are testimony to this fact. Indeed as long ago as the 17th century crop circles were being reported, so this is not a recent phenomenon but a long-standing mystery.

In an effort to solve it, Busty Taylor has researched both genuine crop circles and man-made formations for over 20 years now, in the process clocking up over 500 flying hours looking for crop circles. He points out that from the air stomp board marks and construction lines are clearly visible, although they often go undetected on the ground.

Despite a few openly acknowledged hoaxes however, the crop circle season has become something of an annual event. With hordes of foreign tourists flocking to the ancient county of Wessex to visit the formations, believing them to be a genuine paranormal phenomenon.

Instrumental in this is the website, ‘cropcircleconnector.com’, which reveals the locations of crop circles along with stunning aerial photographs of the formations. With photographs and onsite reports, cropcircleconntector has become one of the world’s leading websites, featuring the latest crop circle formations as and when they occur.

With Holding the Truth

Stuart Dike, who co-runs the website alongside Mark Fussell, was recently informed that certain hoaxers were active in the Avebury and East Field area. Yet the work of these hoaxers may well appear in next years ‘Crop Circle Yearbook 2005′: because Stuart who promotes the Yearbook is, along with other well-known researchers, fully aware of the hoaxes.

According to Stuart: “Everyone is celebrating it [a hoaxed formation] in the way it should be done. In someways I don’t mind.’

So, the critical fact is that certain crop circle researchers are aware that many crop circle formations are being hoaxed. Yet these very same researchers, who are regarded as ‘authorities’ on crop circles, do not reveal this information to the general public, either at their lectures, or on their websites.

In essence they are deceiving the public but why?

Could it be that the money generated from sales of crop circle postcards, calendars and lectures is more important to them than the simple truth?

Other researchers, such as Ron Russell and Peter Sorosen, who are respected for their commitment and research into the genuine crop circle mystery, have always been truthful about their involvement regarding hoaxing. It’s a shame that other well-known researchers do not follow their example and confess to their ‘behind the scenes’ involvement.

The Ritual Landscape

Genuine, yet simple crop circles continue to appear in the Wessex landscape, but they go largely unnoticed as people are drawn to the more spectacular but hoaxed formations. The landscape of Wessex itself is rich in ancient sites, many dating back thousands of years and shrouded in mystery. Numerous local people have witnessed ‘earthlights’; strange balls of blue, amber or white light that often appear around ancient sites and ley lines.

These ‘earthlights’ have also been seen in and around the real crop circles. So instead of treading in the footsteps of the hoaxers, maybe we should follow in the footsteps of our ancestors and explore what really is behind these mysteries.
There are more important paranormal events occurring in the ancient county of Wessex than planked-down corn. The cropcircleconnector website should come clean and reveal to the public the truth, that hoaxed formations are prolific and they should be viewed for what they truly are – at best rural graffiti. At worst, a money making scam that is helping to obscure a real paranormal phenomenon.

Like fairground showmen who boast displays of mysteries and wonders, and then go on to beguile the public with tawdry fakes, the hoaxers are engaged in a confidence trick. The ultimate aim is not genuine research but to fleece the gullible of hard earned cash. In itself, that is bad enough, but in the process the hoaxers are muddying the waters for those who are genuinely looking for the truth regarding crop circles.

It is becoming increasingly apparent that the crop circles that have appeared over southern England in recent years are not simply hoaxes, as some would have us believe. Every year brings new and more complex patterns and many of the crop circles are now expressive of profound geometric and mathematical truths. So much so that the possibility of at least some of these crop circles being hoaxed is now out of the question. They are not. Something else is at work here, something deep and mysterious and as a result we are pleased to be able to bring you a first hand field report from crop circle researcher Charles Mallet. Living near Devizes in Wiltshire, Charles is very much at the centre of crop circle activity; in the course of his investigations he often sleeps in the fields at night and thus his reports are very much on site, first hand accounts. The diagram by his wife Frances reveal a multi-faceted depth and complexity that is way beyond the grasp of a few country yokels trying to create a hoax. In the first of what will become a series of occasional reports we present . . .Signs of the Times.

Onsite Report by Charles Mallet

After some reflection regarding the accompanying formation I feel a few points are worth mentioning, not least the fact that night of the formations arrival the weather was pretty grim. There was moderate to heavy rain from 8pm through most of the night, which left the field completely saturated. Can you imagine a team of people out in those conditions stomping in mud and barley all night? I can’t. One can only guess that the people who claim to have made this formation have not only perfected crop circle hoaxing but also seem to be able to levitate at will to avoid getting mud all over the floor of the glyph. Hmmm.

In the past I have visited new formations at first light after it had been raining the previous night. Invariably one finds that by the time you’ve walked to the formation you are carrying several pounds of top soil on your boots, leaving obvious prints all over the place. How could four or five people leave no trace whatsoever after a night of such heavy rain?

No doubt this formation will be claimed by at least one team of jokers and the sad thing is that most people who have not seen the evidence for themselves will believe them. But no jokers made this formation, of that I am quite sure. On the whole this is a fine quality crop circle with some very clever attributes, in fact this level of sophistication is what one would expect much later in the season. It was a shame that this formation was wrecked by the weather so quickly and comprehensively.

It’s no coincidence that so many crop circle formations have occurred in the vicinity of the ancient sites of Avebury and Silbury Hill. Nor is it any accident that this epicentre of crop circle activity also happens to be at the conflux of many ley lines. According to dowsers the area is a central hub of a great web of ley lines; the avenues of power along which the planets own subtle energy is said to flow, like the blood in our veins.

However some other, rather dubious, figures have also taken an interest in the area. And they now seem intent on suppressing the real truth about the phenomenon, or at least confusing the issue and misleading genuine researchers.

A couple of stories help illustrate this. In the small country town where the Seeker is produced there lives a women who can dowse. She doesn’t use her undoubted abilities to look for gold or buried treasure but ley lines, the pathways for the Earth’s own energies. Last summer, she tells us, she was meditating in the fields near Silbury Hill when her meditation was suddenly and rudely interrupted. A hard and forceful rap on her shoulder brought out of her reflection and she looked up to see a man wielding a cane and dressed in a smart Saville Row style suit.

“Do you really think that you should be doing that here,” he asked in a haughty upper class English accent. With that, she says, and for no apparent reason, a cold fear gripped her; she grabbed her things and ran across the fields past Silbury Hill to get away from this strange, ominous figure.

Quiet honestly we don’t know what her tale signifies but one thing is apparent: there are some extremely sinister figures in the upper echelons of English society, or at least working on their behalf. Another story helps illustrate this further.

We are informed that an unnamed researcher had filmed balls of light emerging from crop circles. He was about to present video of this at a crop circle convention when he was approached by an individual in the men’s toilets. Although this figure is supposed to create crop circles he is also rumoured to work for MI5 & MI6: two organisations that swear allegiance, not to the British people or democracy, but to the Royal House of Windsor. It should also be mentioned that this character is just the sort of low life scum that the intelligence services use occasionally to do their dirty work.

Which is exactly what happened. The crop circle researcher was beaten up, his video was taken and he was warned not to talk about what had happened or what he’d seen and filmed.

Strange as it may seem though there is an explanation for all this. Quite simply, for thousands of years the ruling elite kept, for themselves, hidden arcane knowledge. Crop circles are now challenging that secrecy because if nothing else they have the power to make people ask questions and think for themselves. And that is something the ruling elite do not want. Which is why British Intelligence are so keen to muddy the waters and confuse things still further.

“They have been a source of mystery and amusement to students of the bizarre for years, but yesterday crop circles attracted the attention of a new audience – the long arm of the law. A 29-year-old Wiltshire man last night became what is believed to be the first person in Britain to be accused of the novel crime of raiding a field and creating patterns out of flattened wheat.

Matthew Williams, of Bishops Cannings, near Devizes, was arrested after photographs allegedly showing him working with another man were sent anonymously to detectives. He will appear before Devizes magistrates on Monday charged with causing criminal damage to an unspecified area of pasture near Marlborough in July this year.

The case threatens to blow the lid on what has long been believed to be the prime cause of crop circles well-equipped and highly adept hoaxers.

For years, fans of the paranormal had sought to explain the weird and wonderful patterns of interlinked circles, squares and diamonds as the work of aliens or freak weather conditions. But some crop circle creators have recently come forward to confess to their activities, carried out under cover of darkness using an array of ladders, tethered barrels and ropes to work “magic”.

Police arrested Williams earlier this week after searching his home and recovering pieces of equipment allegedly used to sculpt circles. A second man was also detained but later released without charge…” The Independent 4,11,00

There is an interesting footnote to this report, one that adds an entirely new dimension to the story.

On Thursday 2nd of November I was shopping in the local Devizes Safeway when a figure sidled up to me. “How’s the magazine doing”? He asked, in reference to The Seeker. In fact it was Matthew Williams, mentioned in the above report, and one of this publications first buyers. He had arrived at my front door the day the first advertisements for the Seeker had appeared. When I asked how he had found my flat when the address was not in the advert, only a PO Box number, he had replied cryptically that: “There are ways to find out, you know.”

“It’s a really good little publication,” he continued now in his broad Welsh accent. I thanked him and explained that we planned to go online with material from earlier issues; not exactly headline news but real news that everybody needs to know about and which the mainstream media seemed intent on ignoring. I concluded by saying that anyone who was interested in what was really going on would probably be interested in the Seeker and then just carried on shopping. However something I’d said had obviously given Matthew some pause for thought. As I stood in line at the checkout he came behind me and said quietly and almost in passing: “I’m not really part of MI5 or MI6 you know.”

Which seemed a bit strange because although I didn’t think he was an MI6 agent I suspected that maybe these agencies used him every now and again to do there bidding, thus making plausible denial seem even more convincing. It’s a standard in covert operations where outsiders, either individuals or other agencies, work under contract consequently making it all the more difficult to establish who the real perpetrators are.

Even stranger was the fact that I had told no one about my suspicions, only a trusted friend over the phone. So either Matthew was a mind reader or else he had access to transcripts of my telephone conversations. Either way I wasn’t particularly worried so I bid him farewell and made my out of the supermarket; leaving the check out girl looking bewildered and little realising myself that Matthew would be arrested within the hour.

As I left the supermarket I heard his broad Welsh accent call out after me: “Team Satan,” he said, referring to the alleged circle makers: “they’re really nice guys, you really ought to meet them.”

Of course not everybody involved in the study of crop circles is like Matthew or Team Satan. For example in complete contrast there are people like Francine Blake, from the Wiltshire Crop Circle Study Group, quoted in Nov/Dec 2000 UFO Magazine: “Walking into the Wiltshire Crop Circle Study Group’s Conference on 5-6 July,” she wrote, “felt like stepping into another world, a world of light, peace and serenity.”

Which sounds very nice, or at least it was, once the police had been called and promptly removed Matthew Williams and his friends from the conference for refusing to pay their entrance fees.

This writer arrived at the scene shortly before the police and found Mathew and his friends stomping around and generally intimidating the conference organisers who looked tense and tight lipped. So despite what you may have imagined the world of crop circle research is not entirely one of “light, peace and serenity.”

And in the latest bizarre twist in this saga comes a report that could almost have come from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” We are reliably informed that Matthew Williams and Francine Blake were seen dancing together in a crop circle last summer. Yes we know, it almost beggars belief but our source is at the heart of the crop circle community and we have no cause to doubt them. Which simply underlines the fact that nothing is the way it appears to be . . . at least not in the world of crop circle research.

See ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’ by Charles Mallet for some further perspective:

Once again the BBC has proved itself a veritable font of disinformation. In the summer of 2000 it announced that a “solution” had been found to the mystery surrounding crop circles:

“Scientist Colin Andrews says 17 years of work has revealed that about 80% of the formations are man-made,” announced the BBC.

“But he believes that magnetism may account for the rest, which display a simplicity of form compared with the elaborate, beautiful patterns of the “hoaxes” . . . Most mainstream scientists believe the only explanation for the crop circles lies in the footboards of hoaxers.” BBC NEWS. 9 August, 2000.

According to our information “Scientist” Colin Andrew was formerly an engineer employed by a local municipality. His “solution” to the crop circle mystery was based on his finding anomalies in the geo-magnetic fields around crop circles. Rather than investigate what caused these anomalies he simply concluded that the incongruities themselves had created the crop circles — hardly a scientific investigation.

However his investigations were funded by the Rockerfellers and that may explain why his “solution” received extensive media coverage. In the days following the announcement of his ”solution” he appeared in just about every major British newspaper. Almost as if they were trying to convince us that crop circle were indeed faked so that we could all go back to sleep; after all crop circles may prompt us to start asking questions and maybe even think for ourselves and that could seriously undermine the powers that be.
